Good point, I've also thought about the day I fall or hit a tree on a trail. It's a brand name and is made for bikes, so who knows. For me it was a place to put my batteries so it worked out well. To be honest, I never thought of how it gets in the way when getting on the bike. I tend to kick it every time.

Sorry, no on the rack it is staying on the Schwinn bike. They are cheap you can pick one up at Walmart, Target, probably even Kroger Foods for around $15.

I was talking about the older Schwinn stamped , spring racks that you sometimes see on 3-5 speeds. I will buy those.
