I'm just telling you how to eliminate two extra points in your intake where leaks can, and it sounds in your case have occured. I'm of the mind that if you can eliminate weak points in a system while maintaining proper function that is the best choice. Especially when it only costs around 16 bucks. That is 3 dollars less and 2 less problem points that you have now.I will be checking and diagnosing the problem when I get home from work today. And the heater hose is the opposite of thin walled, it’s very thick walled actually and has woven fibers in the middle of it. From what I’ve read on many posts on the forum a lot of people are using it with zero issues. Now I’m sure in the future it will eventually wear down and need to be replaced, however it came in a 10’ length for $19 so I’ve got plenty of replacement if that time comes. At least that’s the theory! We shall see.
I know what heater hose is bro. If Frankie and Furry are having luck with it then it is possible. I respect both of their opinions, and they're not gona bulls**t you.
I have seen it collapse with my own eyes so that is the only reason I gave you the heads up. It was being used on a reed valve engine so it was even farther away form the heat source, and when replaced with silicone the collapsing ceased . I prefer 4 ply silicone hose for these applications, but for what you are doing a solid intake is the best. I honestly don't care what you chose and hope that it works well for you. If not.
