Your advice, Chain, was spot on. Thanks for looking.
I put it all back together with the original cover, adjusted the flower nut and all is well.

Frankly I have no idea what I did to fix this except pay homage to the Chinese gods of industry by taking it apart several times. Lol.

I find they all run fairly well when you take them apart and put them back together, say.... three times.

Need a couple shots at getting the squish dialed in.
