Axle size

Does anyone know what the rear axle size is on a Kent bayside 7 speed. Reason for asking is I heard that when I get the 3 spoke mag rims I'll need a longer axle and I don't have the original ones that came with the bike. Do I need to buy longer ones?

Mags will have sealed bearings and the axle will probably have shoulders to support the ID if the bearings

Using an axle with no shoulders with sealed bearings will require a center spacer to support the ID of the bearings

Maybe a member will chime in with some advice

My advice is just wait until your mags arrive then see if you need to change the axle and if you do maybe the vendor you bought the mags from has a longer axle

Got a set of calipers? Take some measurements on your bike.

The hole in the center of the wheel where the axle goes. It's probably 3/8".

The mags I got for my 4X bike came with a 180mm axle, there is at least 20mm sticking out that I don't need.

Make sure to ger a high quality axle. An axle supports all the weight and absorbs alot of shock when riding.
