2 cycle bike without muffler end cap

I took the end cap off my muffler and I got way more power that with it on but now it doesn't idle down when I release the throttle. Any tips? It had so little power before I thought something was wrong with it because I ran into a car that cut me off. 80 cc 2 stroke motor on bicycle

How would I fix this? Bc with the muffler cap on it was struggling to get going I took it off and it flies now but it also doesn't want to slow down when I release the throttle the engine just whines And keeps going for a bit.

Get it idling and spray the gasket surfaces with some water. If it stalls then you have found your leak. Have you retorqued the head bolts recently?

Very possible too you might just need to adjust the idle screw.

If it still rev-hangs or idle won't drop with screw adjustment, you have an air leak.
