If you order a new cover, you should make sure that it comes pre-gooed. There should be a small amount of some silicon type adhesive covering that pin and locking it in place.
I used super-glue to glue it back in place.
that internal pin was half bent hanging out....
it had also broken part of the plate, in a small piece like the size
of a match head.
seemed to work until i busted my bike frame for like a week or 80km.
