From the shifter, it looks like sequential gearbox.

Did the honda cub use a divorced gearbox? Engine & trans were separate units?

It's been an hour since I posted the question and everyone is making really, really good guesses.
I want to see more discussions, so I'm tempted to wait a little longer.

I love speculating about mysterious machines, and I love watching people speculates just as much.
So I want to wait a little longer. I will explain what this is in 23 hours.

I think its a cut down Cub engine using only the transmission. I started one a long time ago to make a 4speed shifter
kart. Life got in the way of that one. You basically make in internal jackshaft in place of the crank.

That's a good idea, I have a blown up KX85 here that I could convert.

With so little to view; it's way to hard tell what's original and what your mods are. For example, was the unit bolted to an engine? Are the sprockets original or did they replace gears? If more information and pictures were provided many here could tell you exactly what it is.
