Quick release Cargo Trailer: (do it yourself)

The u-joint type seemed good also but where do you find a small one?
Wow! Killer Idea Stins! How could you do it w/o welding??? Use a 1/2" socket swivel!

You could also get a little u-joint from the auto salvage yard. In most cars with rack and pinion steering there is a little u-joint between the end of the steering column and the steering rack. Easy to remove if the engine is already gone.

As far as a swivel joint... what about a worn-out strut used to hold up the rear hatchback on three-door coupes? There's a nice little swivel-joint on the end of those things.

If you need a really heavy duty trailer, I would think you could make one (pretty easily) from the HF Aluminum Cargo Carrier.

(It's heavy duty enough that I could see a one-man camping trailer application...)

Where the trailer is at now: I left Naples/Ft. Myers Florida area for North Carolina by motorbike pulling the trailer behind me. Made it to Ocala Fl (about 250 miles) north of origin. Trailers aluminum mounting bracket broke due to a lack of meat when we punched out the hole for the conduit mount. So I flipped the trailer upside down, to make it water-resistant so my luggage/small suitcase wouldn't get wet, and hid it in a good spot and locked it to a tree with an extra bike cable lock. Hopefully it will be there when i make my trip back to Florida for the winter. Right now im in the North Carolina Mountains. I could have made it further with the trailer because i rigged it to work but also used Google Maps and found out that Georgia has no shoulders on the side of the road, so decided to leave the trailer in Fl, and not risk it. Anyhow i made it to Jacksonville Fl. taking the backroads in Fl. and backcountry camping along the way.(total about 500miles and 5 days) It was a great trip to see Old Florida like it used to be before the developers came in and ruined Florida. Caught a trucker out of Jacksonville Fl. Get a load of this: I asked him if he was taking I-75 north and if he could drop me off in Chatanooga, or Knoxville TN. I figured I could MB the rest of the way to Asheville N.C. After pulling the guys arm and telling him i would sign a disclosure statement releasing him and his company from any libability he decided to do it. I gave him a couple of packs of cigars. He went out of his way and didnt' even go i-75 to Ohio where he was going. He made a special route and took I-95 to I-26 and dropped me right off in Asheville N.C. with my MB in the back of his rig. (i made sure i drained the gas out of the tank before i put it in the back)

Anyway today I climbed Mount Mitchell by MB. 6680ft. above sea level. Highest point east of Mississippi river.

It was a cool ride,

Here are some picts.

Enjoy and happy rides,

Lot of ideas on bicycle trailers, couplers and DIY.
the air hose with quick release has merit.
Use the search box.Works well.
Good Luck.

I agree Stins.

Could probably be made even safer by soldering cable inside the hose! Use pipe clamps through the rack!

i made a hitch like this works great just take the wire out a pull out the pin and your unhooked from the trailer

I use a trailer in town (albuquerque), but don't use a trailer on tour, a least partly because of the little or no shoulder issue. Occasionally i go on long washboardy forest roads as well. I could be wrong, but it feels like i would need a BOB trailer or something comparable (with shocks) in the long run.
