Thats mainly what I use them for. Pretty much anything that doesn't need a wheel to come off. The Rhino Ramps are nice, and the 12k lb version can be had at Walmart for about 50 bucks.

Same! Trans swap and transfer case on my old Comanche. Also dropped the oil pan to replace the rear main seal. Allowed me to also get gully under my Versa to remove a broken heat shield above the exhaust. Being a barrel shaped large man, it takes a decent amount of room for me to get under a vehicle.

i use a floor jack and jack stands from harbor freight on my trucks

Jack stands are for when the tires come off imo. Just about anything else ramps will do the trick

I won't use jack stands unless I have no other options. I even own 4 pairs of them.

I hate jack stands, especially on gravel

I use jack stands with a hydraulic jack. I have a couple nice pieces of engineered beam 12 x 12 x 2 for underneath them. In summer I have to put the jack on plywood so it doesn't sink into the asphalt driveway.

That's a presta valve

Not always.
They're hard to find, but I have had nice tubes with threaded Schreader valve stems.
