48cc piston ring broken

One of my piston rings is broken, I noticed after removing the top end. It's been running fine except for a air leak where the head wasn't tightened all the way due to stripped thread.

New rings arrive on Friday. I heard somewhere that you can run on one ring if it's the top one.

True? Can I run on one ring for a few days?
