Lightweight 70 CC DIESEL!

The nice thing about RC engines that are desiel is that you are actually adjusting the timing when you turn the T shaped compression fitting on the head, something you can't do with a regular RC engine. Yes, they typically use castor oil as the lubricant because it holds up to heat better -such as when the engine runs too lean (easy to do on a model). And models with the Davis Desiel conversion typically do not last as long as they are not designed for the excess stresses imposed by dieseling them. Often the cranks on .049's snap right off the bat. Adjusting them is tricky with the compression and mixture, but if done right, it is the only way to go.

I'm not so sure about the excess heat. My 2002 TDI VW literally will not heat up in the winter unless it gets driven. Simply not enough fuel is needed at idle to produce enough heat to do anything but keep it running.

The glow plugs are only on for about 10-15 seconds and not a big issue as far as wattage is concerned. The big battery in the vehicle is to crank that high compression over.
