Directrunner DR1L Motorized Bike Kit

I notice the bike has the mounting hole for old school cantilever brakes.
It looks to me he has the brakes mounted between the shifters/throttle.
If need be you could install longer brake pulls.
Just mount them on the underside and they are out of the way of the motor mount like I did with the fender mounted on the topside.
You could also put a disc on.
All kinds of options.

Is that spindle on a splined shaft to allow it to move (increasing and decreasing ratio) while on the fly?

Yes, that is the idea. You can change ratio immediately while at any torque or power level without any interruption . Highest to lowest ratio of the transmission is 2:1.
