do you need a condensor on the points on a H whizzer, and what would work?

I know a old outboard motor will not spark with bad ones,that took me me some time to find.

I have a Evinrude Mate 2, 1973, that I converted to electronic ignition. It starts every time now.

The little box mounts in the hole for the condenser screw.

Yep, take out the points and condenser and mount ECM in there

Also take out the points lifter and plug the hole

Switch from positive ground and negative ground to see which has the best spark

Condenser​

The condenser or capacitor is attached to the points. When the points open, the winding of the coil can arc across the openings. The condenser stores the current temporarily to prevent the points from arcing and turn off the current faster.
