Photos & Bicycle Builds

Pictures of motorized bike projects and bike builds. Vote for the best build!
Ethan and I helped our friend Miguel build a motorized bike. here's a little video clip of me, up to my antics, and some pics. click the link for the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQw8JR_CbrM And at last, Miguel the Hun, and his bike. he kind of looks like a cross between a hun and a Tuscan Raider with those goggles on! hahaha! in his defense, the high was around 19 degrees today and he rode the bike over to the shop.
After several tries I've finally gotten a picture of my first build posted here. (Augie, thanks for the assistance with that!) I'm having a GREAT time with it, after ironing out all the bugs. I recently registered it as a moped. This, following a heart pounding, low-speed, PO-lice pursuit straight thru the 3000 population metropolis that I live in. The cops didn't give me a ticket, but I had to get in touch with the State registry, who send an officer to my home to put a VIN on my bike, and a title application, then I had to get the plate. All of which cost me a grand total of $5+change. Actually, the guy from the State registry was blown away by my bike, as are many others around town. I'm hoping to do a LOT of riding this...
my friend built this a while ago i just rebuilt the engine after it siezed 3 times. im so glad the piston and cylinder didnt get damaged and i was able to use it again. i dont know how it was possable but it runs fine now. i dont realy know what to think of this thing its kinda weird.
As promised-- http://img98.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img98/5966/1161228072ope.smil Positives-- It's a rip roaring 50mph monster, looks great, easily change drive wheels for lower gearing, starts on the fly, surprisingly quiet, still pedals and provides biking experience Negatives--Added 17lbs to my otherwise lite MTB, heavy rear affects handling, twist grip a little cheesy, legality? I love it although it needs a little tweaking-- easy assembly-- thwo thumbs up!! DBR :devilish:
My 80 cc was mounted on a 26"mountain bike frame. It was an older one so it fit well and the engine mounted without any problems. I happened to have a set of heavy duty rims (worksman) from a tandum project that never got together so I sacraficed the gears and installed the single speed coaster brake rear rim . It has double thick spokes and a wide steal rim so it holds up well to the forces of the drive sprocket. When it came time to cut three or so links off the chain I used a hammer and a large screwdriver and smacked the thing against a brick and it broke apart in two wacks. Not a problem.Everything else seemed to go together well and I had it running that afternoon. The brake in period was to run a tank full of gas with extra oil...
Glad to see a new forum up, I havn't seen any others since the Grubee forum went away last year. I have two motorized bikes. I was riding my stretch cruiser at the Golden Aspen motorcycle rally in Ruidoso, NM two weeks ago and out of 40,000 people and 15,000 bikers I was the only one that got a picture in the newspaper and on the front page at that. A huge picture of me on my bike on the front page.
