Off the engine. It is the kind of light that normally runs off a friction generator. It has a 3 watt bulb, anything more than that draws too much from the motor.

Engine powered headlights
Is that headlight any good on a pitch dark road on a moonless night? The white wire that comes out of the magneto gives out, I think, 0.5Amp and 7 volt current. Does anyone know a really decent headlight that will run off this current?

Headlight works very good. Here's a link to a headlamp that is made to run off these motors. The link shows how to make one but, he has some made up for sale. Just contact him through the site.http://norms-iron-works.tripod.com/
