Looks sharp. Is that rear axle from Spooky Tooth?

    no, it isn't from spooky
it would be near impossible to put a gas engine on this one because of the design
    this is the rear end

the trike we built for his mom is from spooky though

My Hercules tricycle uses the same axle as that. I found that the drive pin on the sprocket always wants to wriggle its way out unless I put a safety wire through it.

Its a lovely looking machine - Im a little concerned about power issues using an electric system (but then I am a complete and utter petrolhead lol). I guess it depends how far and how fast you want to go..

It *should* be possible to IC engine this bike, the easiest way being a front drive similar in plan to the velosolex idea - ideally something belt driven by GEBE or a chain type stanton (no I am not affiliated!).

Good luck with the build when you get there and be sure to post pics

    Hi Annie,

Im slightly confused looking at that picture. I love the style of the bike btw.

on the second picture the power hub is on the one side but whats on the other side, it looks like some sort of gearing set up.. is it a part of the old bike or does it serve a purpose?

It's a Sachs Duomatic hub and coaster brake which is just the job for my tricycle. I really like the Duomatic two speed hub and I always keep an eye out for them at hard rubbish collection time.
