just need your opinion what you think is better to built a motorized bike on. a Coaster brake single speed bike or a Multi gear hand brakes cruiser. i use multi gear beach cruiser with rear hand brakes.

multi gear with front and rear disc brakes is the king when it comes to performance, but derailleurs can be finicky and unreliable. most internally geared hubs aren't strong enough for a motor either.

a single speed bike will be much more reliable but you will have to do top end rebuilds more often due to the fact that you'll spend a lot more time at higher rpms. coaster brakes are also very prone to failure, in a motorized bike application they get blistering hot very quickly and will only last a few hundred miles before you need new brake shoes

there are a small number of single speed bikes that can reach the high 40 mph or low 50 mph range, a bike like that can be geared so that at a comfortable cruising speed you're turning a relatively low rpm.

you don't want coaster brakes

at some time you WILL forget to put gas in, so you'll want a few gears to pedal home
