D Deleted member 12676 Guest Feb 25, 2015 #22 a bad head leak will cause a popping sound when trying to start it and sometimes occassionally when running. these stock heads and cylinder tops are not flat, you have to make them flat so they seal better. Also make your own fiber head gasket.
