Old WC1 Cruzzer Project

WC1 belts

Thanks Ray, I've now had a chance to test both the 4L290 belt and the ax-27 belt for the front drive and I had quite a difference! Top speed with the 4l290 was 30mph and 35mph with the ax-27 belt.( should also mention I used a GPS speedometer app on my phone for testing speeds.) I did make a very small adjustment with the carb so that may have been a factor too. I'm also wondering if a 19mm carb would help improve the speed a little? At around $10 a piece it was worth it to try both belts. Hopefully this may help anyone who's thinking of replacing a belt. Often it can be hard to find postings on this site that pertain to a exact issue you may have.
The weather is suppose to be nice Saturday here so I plan on replacing the rear belt and testing it. This bike has 1600 miles on it and I have no idea how old the current belt is on it but it seems to be in decent shape. It's a "First Auto" brand belt which is what I believe these bikes came with but I know that Whizzer Paul sells this brand as a replacement also. The belt I will be using is a Dayco brand belt. Both front belts were also Dayco and are carried at both AutoZone and Advance Auto.
Will post more info on my rear belt testing this weekend. Chris

Photo Update

I spent the whole weekend working on my bikes. Basically I've turned my WC1 into the same bike as the straight bar look of the bike I'm currently re-doing! There is lots to be done to this bike yet, but it's looking pretty nice. If you notice the pics where the bike is sitting on the ground it really has a lot nicer stance now.
I've also added a new auto clutch to the bike so here is a link to a short video of that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQPNOnv8KPk I had to use the kevlar belts because I don't have the right sizes yet. The bike is a little slow and the belts are a little slippy, but this was my first auto clutch, squeal- free ride and it was awesome! I've been waiting over a year to do that!
I'll be adding the rear WZ fender and a really cool new tail light along with front and rear turn signals and a horn. I have a front belt tension kit on there now till I get the right belt on there and then will remove that. More later...

New tail light and turn signals

Two things I don't care for on the newer Whizzers is the humped stance of the bike and the tail light of the bike. I set out to change both. First I added a vintage Schwinn springer fork and a wz fender and now I'm adding a rear wz fender with new tail light and turn signals.
I ordered a set of 4 turn signal lights on eBay for $5.50 (shipping incl.) from Malaysia and the bracket which is identical to others I've seen on eBay being sold as whizzer, was $11.36. It seems once again if you attach the whizzer name to some thing on eBay you can charge 4x as much. If your looking to add turn signals to your bike do a little homework and save yourself some money! I already have the flasher module so all I need to do now is figure out the wiring.
Tail light/brake light is one of those cool "stop" reproduction lights on eBay for $33. Total for this whole project is just $50 and I need to fabricate a front bracket to mount the turn signals off the struts. Look for this set up to change a bit as I realized what I didn't like the most about the tail light is that stupid looking bracket!

Yeah Ray the bracket is a little wide and will probably cut it down some, drill a new hole and bend it. Will be getting rid of that tiny plate too!

Here's a picture of the tail light. Will narrow that bracket eventually and hopefully get rid of that whizzer bracket once I can figure something else out.

Thanks Ray. Bike had high miles on it. 1600. Sent the cylinder and head off to Quenton a week ago and have not heard from him. This site seems almost dead. Can't get a single response from nobody! PM me your email. I have some pics for you. I'm really disappointed because we're having what could be the last few really nice days left of weather and I have nothing to ride.
Chris
Good luck on here and dont believe s**t anyone tells you its all a joke I've been turning wrenches for 40 years and some of the bs I've heard on here is a joke common sense will go along way
