i recently lost compression on my bike i know how to fix it but wanna know what does the piston ring & head gasket do?
does it play part of Conpression.

that gasket keeps compression from leaking to atmosphere, the rings keep what's meant to be in the crankcase out of the combustion chamber. they both play a role in compression, but the head gasket is the more likely culprit if you lost compression. if you're really unlucky you have a cracked head that you're losing compression from

the head can warp with high heat. Use sandpaper on glass and flatten the mating surface of both the head and the top of the cylinder. If those aren't flat then you can lose compression there even if you have a new gasket.
Look and see if there are any vertical gouges in your cylinder with the piston at its lowest position. If there are then you need to replace it. Make sure your spark plug is on tight.
