I was just given a 2 year old Trailmate Desoto adult trike, and being that I have a real nice Honda GX120 motor, I figured, why not!
The left rear axle on the trike has a collar that keeps it in place. There is about 2" of axle that sticks out past the collar. It even has a keyway in it. Looks like it was designed for a motor.
One idea, is to put a sprocket on it and a clutch on the motor. I think the frame would have to be cut to allow a large sprocket.
Second Idea, is to loosen the collar, and slide the left rear wheel and axle out 1 1/2" and put a sprocket, or pulley, on the axle next to the wheel.
Does anyone know what size sprockets, I would need with 24" wheels? I only want to go around 20 mph, at a low engine rpm.
Also, whats a good source for sprockets, clutch and chain?
Thanks for any help and ideas.
