    Default Q-Matic Drive series #8

    The best just got better!

Production of the Q-Matic series #7 has just been terminated and replaced with the new series #8.

The difference between series #7 and series #8 is the secondary drive pulley. All previous Q-Matic production units employed a 5" aluminum pulley, whereas series #8 will use a special steel balanced unit. The new pulley is balanced to 5000 RPMs, and is much smoother. Because of the additional weight the new pulley has transferred additional torque to the rear wheel and does slightly better on hills and heavier riders.

We spent time testing the special pulley on the Q-Matic drives using the HF 79 & 99 CC motors with outstanding results. We were able to do some minor testing on the Honda GXH50 motor, but we are currently running tests on the HS 142 motors to complete our research.

The heavier pulley stores more torque without affecting the revolution rate of the motor. We ended up with a little more torque delivered to the rear wheel and the motor still revs very quickly [unlike motors with the heavy clutch installed on the flywheel].

Are the terminated series #7 versions up gradable to the new series # 8?
If so how much to upgrade?

Is the price of the new series #8 the same?

    Do you have a pic?

    Yes, $20.00, Yes & Yes

Picture of drive with balanced secondary pulley is from my test bike with the 99CC HF motor. This is the bike we tried to destroy at Dawson Springs, KY on the Dirt Drags [still in perfect condition].

I like that steel pulley. It looks indestructible.

Are the bearing hangers on the new series 8 like the pic above or are they still the bent one piece units?

The Q-Matic drive picture is one of the factory prototypes. The production unit has a rear bearing bracket with threaded feet, and the front is similar except it has 4 holes [for using a phillips screwdriver] and the feet doesn't have threads.

The 3 piece in the picture is a prototype bracket and we are considering it for production if we can keep the cost the same on both units.

    Quenton,

When will the tests on the HS 142 motors be complete? Where is the link going to be to purchase the #8?

Effective tomorrow, all Q-Matic drives, and EZM kits will be version #8.

Versions #1 thru #7 had either a Congress or Chicago brand aluminum pulley, whereas all version #8 will have the iron balanced secondary drive pulley.

We will be on a limited shipping schedule untill after July 16th.

You can purchase the Q-Matic drive from any authorized dealer in your area, if no dealer within 25 miles, you can order direct from EZ Motorbike or any authorized dealer. Infromation on delaer locations are on our web site www.ezmotorbike.com and look in the "dealer" section.

Not Quenton, but as someone who has both a Whizzer and an EZ Motorbike with a Q-Matic I can say that would be correct.

I got one of those pulleys from Quenton in Portland, IN last week but didn't put it on yet.
