Default How to Attach Spindle to Chainsaw Clutch?

    Hi.
So my chainsaw engine has an open-faced clutch.
I am having a really tough time coming up with a way to mount a spindle to it.
The best I can come up with involves either
    (a) a plate mounted on the engine side around the existing gear with tons of JB Weld bolted to a plate on the open side, which the spindle is mounted on, or
    (b) a rubber pipe reducer held onto the clutch housing with a hose clamp

I have very little faith in either of those ideas.
    Can anybody help me out?

Oh, yeah, and the "nut" section in the center of the clutch is stripped so I cannot remove the clutch to help attach anything to it.

    Here's a picture of a similar clutch...

If the clutch shoes are removed can you bolt a round plate in their place with a shaft in the center for direct drive?

You must remove the stripped nut before any progress can be made.
