mounting cdi near battery in steel box

I was thinking of mounting a small 6v battery inside of a retro steel battery box. I was also going to put the CDI box in there. Its a tight fit. Can anyone forsee a problem with electrical interference between the two?
Also if I have to shave 2mm off the corners of the CDI, might that be a problem?

I don't see TOO much of a problem. You'll almost certainly get some additional EMI on the power line, but unless you're running a microcontroller, I don't see it causing problems (straight lighting is usually OK with noise, its logic circuitry that tends to fail). If it does, just beef up the filter caps on the power line in whatever circuit is misbehaving.

Shaving the CDI case is OK - if you shave off all the plastic, there's epoxy underneath. If you start getting circuit board shavings though, you'll want to stop (I haven't dissected a CDI yet, as I haven't actually had one fail, so I'm not sure how much clearance there is at the bottom).
