    Default USA Made Bicycle Engines

Ok lets switch gears here a little.

Some members of the forum are interested in the high performance engine building.
    For instance this supercharged motor.

I certinly fit into that category.

So what is the deal why don't it happen?

Sometimes I think we spend more time as a community debating about what will work and what wont and who's lying and who's wrong......ECT ECT ECT.

This is non productive and wile it lets some of us vent we still don't have a supercharger.

So if you want a super charger how about this..........

I know there are many very talented individuals here.
If we all pull together and work together those talents combined can bring the things you want.

I am certinly willing to help i can make drawings and have a plethora of info on these engines allready.

But i don't know everything about superchargers.

    Yes i understand the concept.

However the only turbos i have seen are run off the exhaust and spin a turbine.

I used to machine compressor housings and turbine housings for Holset and Cummings Disel Engines.

Disel engines are very close to a 2 stroke so yes the turbo concept is definatly vaild.

Now the standard HT i have pushed very hard but we will need to investigate the safty and do stress anaylisys.

If you all want to make this happen.....Maybe we can.......If i can put together a decent design with all your help i know someone who may sponsor me to build and test it.

I'm not allowed to mention names here i got infracted for it.

If we get a soild design thats not mickey mouse i can get funding and test it.

    So it's up to everyone.
    Want better things.
Start working together to get them.

    Sincerly

    Hi Rich

You radiate "credibility", based on your previous works of "making things happen".

I still like the novel idea of a double sleeve valve engine, but it has significant drawbacks, the main one being cold weather starting issues with such a high degree of oil film strength between the sleeves.
It would be like a Formula 1 engine that requires water and oil pre-heaters before an attempt at starting the thing would be made possible.

The extra weight of sleeves and thermal transfer to radiated surfaces would also cause some nightmares.

Aside from an engineering exercise, it's a failure just waiting to be confirmed.
Be that as it may, the potential for supercharging using variable exhaust port timing is excellent.

Another variation on supercharging is turbo compounding, originally used on WW2 radial engines, where exhaust energy is absorbed through an exhaust turbine, connected via a coupling mechanism, feeding power back to the crankshaft.
This may be a more workable system than an outright turbo or supercharger.

    Hi again Rich

This is another very unique concept or take on supercharging.
You may find it an interesting read.

    Thanks for the info.

To tell you the truth i am actually working on a very feasible engine design which uses some never before seen techonlogy and increases power and fuel efficcency better than 30% and drastically reduces emmisions.

The technology is allready patend and thats good because i have explicit permission from the designer and owner of the patens to incorporate his design into our bicycle engines.
In fact he is going to send me a running prototype to use.

They claim 100mpg in an automobile so i can only imagine what it will give us in this little motor.

It is a ways off at least 6mo to a year to fully develop and test.

Anyway maybe at that point a supercharger will do more good.

Until then hopefully i don't gen infractions for discussing this engine.

Just seems to me this is a good place to discuss performance options.

Is this a patented two stroke design? Is anyone else licensed to use this technology? If so, who is currently employing it?

    This is a Patented design.
It is for 2 stroke 4 strokes and disel engines as well as compressors and generators.
Only the 2 individuals who have the patens have manufactured it.

Nobody else is licenced to use the technology.

Currently i am working with these guys and my normal sponsor, We have explixit permission to utilize there technology.
In fact they are going to send me a running prototype in the near future.
And currently we are working on the design as a team.
Designed specifically to fit into a motored bike.

So this is some very exciting stuff.
Yes we are still in the early design stage but honestly i don't see it being more than a year to perfect it.

This new concept isn't with the intention of high horsepower......It is with the intention of High Efficency and lower emmisions.

I have more but here is the patten.

So you see this is real my friend.

i have nothing i could add to the techie stuff.

i believe things when i see 'em but it don't mean i'm a doubter in the meantime...i like to watch development of new things but not gearhead debate for debate's sake, and i get turned off real fast by hype for advertising purposes during the process.

    i have one more thing:
This new concept isn't with the intention of high horsepower......It is with the intention of High Efficency and lower emmisions.
now, THIS i like, get that part done for the masses, & the ensuing aftermarket will take care of the gearheads

    I'm not trying to advertise.

But i do take pride in my hard work.

Showing it off is part of the reward for doing.

Certinly all this will not happen overnight.

    But in time it will.

And i agree.....There is nothing to debate or argue about here.

This is simply about producing a Quality Bicycle Engine that isn't imported and far surpasses the EPA requirements.

    And BTW.

This is good for 4 Strokes too.....

See no one gets left out.

Thanks to everyone for your support.
