Briggs & Stratton V twins are appearing in a lot of antique builds. Which CVT fits the 18hp Vanguard?

Thanks for the info. Looks like a Vanguard and Comet CVT is far cheaper than a Harley engine and gearbox.
I had considered buying a used chopper rolling chasis from somebody that couldn't or didn't want to finish it. It looks like I could add a Vanguard/Comet drive train for well under $1500. The Vanguard should be adequate for non-freeway, surface street riding.

I agree- I saw on that Cushman site that people are getting speeds up to 70 mph with the 18hp. That is plenty of speed for any 2 lane. Personally, I would stay off of divided highways.

I recently saw a warmed over Harley Hummer (1951) running a Lifan 200cc engine on EBay. The Lifan is a good motor, but I would insist on a domestic or Aeromacchi (sp?) engine if the original mill was unsalvageable or missing.
I guess the good news is that old Harley is back on the road.
