How to get CA license Plate

SdCruizer,

Fill out part A and part D. Yes, put your address since you're the registered owner.

The and/or are for people that are co-registering, ie, spouse, parent, bank. Just don't worry about it since you're the sole owner, I assume.

Some people might disagree with me, but the pro of registering, is that depending where you live, the cops are more less likely to hassle you than if you weren't registered. If you do get pulled over and sited without a plate, it's might cost you some heavy change.

In California, you can't ride a motorized bicycle on bike path or trails, but you can ride in a bike lane, at reasonable speeds.

$18 for registering. Wear a helmet, stay under 30 mph, have a stop lamp, a mirror, a headlight, a tail lamp, Class M1 or M2 license and your within the law, so enjoy.

($18 for registering.)
Last I heard it was $19.00. Hey, close enough for the Gov.
Big Red.

I sent in $19 the other day

I got a helmet, front light, mirror, red light for the back but I ordered that maxxon light, m1 license

I do admit I blow alot of stop signs with the bike, its just too hard to accelerate too slow
but I stay off to the side of the road
I still slow down alot, but just wont do a stop unless other cars are around

Still $18.00 I think registration went up $19.00 one year then went back down to $18.00.

I just pulled this link off DMV's website in fees:

http://dmv.ca.gov/vr/fees/mopeds.htm

Maybe they'll refund you a dollar! HA! - never heard of DMV returning fees, though sure like collecting! SdCruizer, maybe you'll be the first.

I sent my $18.00 on Monday, so we'll see what happens!

yeah I tried to look on the dmv site, but of course its too hard to figure out
hopefully they wont send it back because its too much
I dont care really as long as they send it

Anybody know if AAA can handle this??? I try to stay far away from DMV..

Thanks for the info...Good read indeed..

^^^^^That was for Mountainman^^^^^..lol

Print the form, fill it out, write a check or buy a money order, address an envelope, put a stamp on the envelope, send it in and receive the plate and registration in the mail. All from the comfort of your home. That's it - no direct contact with DMV.

Here's the form:

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg230.pdf

I doubt AAA is going to have the form and plates anyway.

Good Luck,

Nice, I have an old Honda moped that I wanted to get re-entered into the system. It hasn't been registered in 20 years. I didn't know it was going to be this easy.

InfoCentral,

if your moped was already registered and you have the plate - no need to re-register - It's a one-time fee and one-time registration, unless you've lost your plate or paperwork. Mopeds are not like other vehicles that need annual registration.

Hey Big Blue,
Did you get the registration for only $18 or did they want $19? Just curious.
