Tire Wiper for friction drive

yes fetor -- that's them

yes fetor
I went into their search engine there on site
and put in tire savers -- that's them -- no picture -- but -- that's them

also the ones showed above in post #8 and #10 --- also the ones I have seen around

just thinking here though
to be used in the proper manner
one with a friction drive would need to mount tire savers to back end of motor rack
thus to knock things off before entering between friction wheel and tire
these tire savers are made to mount to the old style brakes
if this mounting was used -- they would come in contact after the fact...

Adel clamp to hold tire saver?

I will try to fashion a wire to the shape of a tire saver as in the prior picture I posted and attach it with a small Adel clamp.
The Adel clamp could go around the aluminum tube that guides the quick release bolt at the back of my BMP frame as seen in the pictures I posted.

hey steve
the key with proper position seems to be
the plastic tubing
the wire goes into the plastic tubing
this way you get just a slight amount of down pressure to the tire

DIY Tire Saver

Hi, MM
How does the plastic tubing hold the wire down? I'm not quite getting that part.
Here's a picture of what I've got so far.
If you look closely, you might be able to make out that I made my DIY Tire Saver the same shape as the one in the picture I posted. I wrapped some black tape around the part that touches the tire just to give it a little tiny bit of cushioning.
I used an Adel clamp to hold the wire in place.
With the clamp, I can twist the contraption around the aluminum tubing so that I get just a touch of pressure on the tire. At that point, I tightened the clamp.
This is a whole lot better looking than my Wheel Whiskas.
I'm not sure how well it will work.
I took it for a short, 1 mile ride and nothing bad happened.
I was thinking of wrapping the wire that touches the tire with some athletic tape that has a cloth backing (instead of black tape) so the cloth would clean the tire.
I don't have any of the athletic tape on hand.
I'll post more if anything interesting happens.

the small plastic connecting piece is located in the middle

if you take the wire and cut out some of it in the middle
then replace cut out part with some plastic tubing
it helps to keep the unit adjusted to the tire
slight pressure required

ride that thing sideways
