High end bike use quick release, solid axles are generally reserved for lower end bikes. Mountain bikers and even trials riders use quick release axles. These guys jump off 6 foot drops with quick release.
GEBE says you need to use a solid axle with their kits but...
besides the fact that they design it to mount on the axle why not use quick release?
I plan to make frame mounts for my GEBE and use quick release axles for my trailer to mount to. BOB and Nashbar trailers use a mounting system that requires quick release.
If BOB, Nashbar and the toughest bikes made use quick release I say its strong enough.
