Quick release VS. solid axle (?)

High end bike use quick release, solid axles are generally reserved for lower end bikes. Mountain bikers and even trials riders use quick release axles. These guys jump off 6 foot drops with quick release.

GEBE says you need to use a solid axle with their kits but...
besides the fact that they design it to mount on the axle why not use quick release?

I plan to make frame mounts for my GEBE and use quick release axles for my trailer to mount to. BOB and Nashbar trailers use a mounting system that requires quick release.

If BOB, Nashbar and the toughest bikes made use quick release I say its strong enough.

Tell me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

from time to time I wonder about this
thinking that a solid axle would be much stronger than my quick release
and I don't see how it can not be
thinking that at some of my high speeds traveled (down mountain)
I would feel safer with a solid axle

why don't I change
I have seen so many of the quick releases since working in a bicycle shop 1970s
and have never seen one fail
since my bicycle came with them -- they will stay
if the bicycle would have came with solid axles -- they would stay

if building up new wheels which would I use -- solid perferred

ride the motor bike

now that i'm using the shifter kit i'm running quick release too.

since you will use frame mount sfor the GEBE mount strap it makes sense to use the quick release for your other features.

Is OK to tell you you're right?

Of course, not all hollow axles and QR skewers are equal.
