Well I'm going to modify something for head light too, just trying to get a idea.I was very surprised when the headlight that was wired to white wire it would make a tick-en sound like the piston was very tapping the plug ,and was inconstant and it would kill motor and foul plug it wouldn't start again for awhile.That's how I figured it out being inconstant.I kinda think I'll leave it connected and only turn it on at night,for now.I do got some ideas for a different set up,involves a home made rechargeable one,like the r/c cars ones, 6 cell.

Hello motorpsycho All the posting I done was all funny.I'm going to run it by you as short as I can.I started the first week in December.I soldiered all the wires and added low profile air filter which it ran like ****,took it off and ran better but not right just yet.Then I install a cen clutch,after that I thought the plug was hitting the piston.nope that wasn't the case it was the 6 volt head light drawing too much power and killing engine at idle no matter what I adjusted it would shut spark off and then would not start right away again plug was fouling then when it died.So on your chopper how do you got your head light wired....thank Wayne lol.

yeah, i never had a problem running it without a tensioner, until i dropped from a 44 tooth rear sprocket to a 41 tooth rear sprocket. once i went to the 41 tooth i was having trouble getting both chains tight. I even tried the 1/2 link trick. 1/2 link was not enough and a full link was too much. i needed like 3/4 of a link to make it work. so, i made the tensioner to take up the slack on the engine chain and it works great. It's been on my bike for over a year, and i have not had one single problem with it. it does what it's supposed to do.

Congrats on your spring tensioner. These little bikes are running maybe 2 horsepower, so the tensioners we made can easily overcome the chain pulling, esp when the chain has very little slack anyway.

Yours has an advantage of helping make removal of the gear cover easier. With mine, I'd have to remove my whole tensioner and spring assembly. Its inconvenient but I've done it before for maintenance. It sure beats the suffering of jumped chains though!

actually, i got the parts off e-bay. the sellers name is abaxo. the item is listed as "DH DOWNHILL FREERIDE BIKE BICYCLE CHAIN TENSIONER". he has other tensioners that might work better than this one, because i had to modify this one to make it work the way i wanted it to. best of all, this one was very cheap to buy. onr tyhing tho, the gear doe snot have a bearing it it like i thought it did. it just has a brass bushing in the center rather than a bearing, but the bushing is thick, and i think it should last quite a long time. I put grease on the shaft that the gear and bushing ride on.
I'm in Bloomington, about an hour south of indy. What kind of bike do you have?
