  1. Hey Kim , so I looked at Grauchos build again , what I want to do is make just the pedal side , two sprockets next to each other , sorry if I was a bit vague , thats why I thought of using a bottom bracket , I dont know what sprockets I need ,I know what they look like ...... I thought about a couple of pillow blocks , but thought a euro BB with a couple of sprockets on one side would be the easiest and cheapest , let me know what you think .

  3. G'day Mate

Soz to hear about the license they have nabbed me 6 times in my life could of got it back few years ago but if i go again for dangerous or reckless i end up in Jail not something i want ...

Regarding the the builds i haven't sold any been offered alot for the trike on more than several occasions though, most times i go out on it in fact "wanna sell it" is a common question directed my way haha.... i build them for myself though buddy, they take me a fair time to build due to my disability and associated complication that go with it, working full days ain't possible these days im afraid so i have to do it bit by bit when the body allows, sorry to say, i would love to be able to pump em out to sell to those in situations like yourself....unfortunately its not possible :-(

Be prepared to pay upwards of the 1000 dollar mark for a decent electric setup with any kind of range (~30-40km per charge @ ~40-50km/hr) though buddy PLUS the bike to put it on. Electric unfortunately is expensive to get into, once you have the gear though running costs is very minimal 10-15cents a charge if that and general bicycle maintenance tires/brakes etc... You can do it cheap, batteries is your major outlay depending on the range you want can be as little as a couple hundred for old SLA (lead batteries) or upwards of 800 bucks for higher AH Lifepo4 setups that will get you some serious distance between charges, just depends on your needs and how deep your pockets are as to how far your going to go on a charge :-)

You can buy trike kits from Choppersus.com that bolt straight onto the back of standard bicyle, a cruiser/beach comber style would suit the conversion best IMO...they are around 120 bucks for memory plus freight. Checkout Choppersus.com website anywayz they have fully built bikes there (non electric) that are pretty stylish and would suit an electric setup better than your standard mountain bike frames. Getting batteries mounted or more so a place to mount them on a bicyle seems to be the biggest worry without taking away too much from the bikes handling, cruisers and "chopper" style frames are longer and more open they go well electrified the longer wheelbase aids in higher speed handling.

If your keen on getting into electric though, forget this site and head over to Endless Sphere and sign up its all electric forum with some incredibly clever and helpful people there that can help you workout how to and where to get what your wanting. This forum as your prolly aware is more geared towards the ICE powered bicycles and little interest is shown in electric, whether this is ignorance or cost dunno prolly bit of both i guess..

If you go electric though you wont go back, it will put your 66c to shame in both acceleration and top speed all while making minimal noise next to none if you go with a hub motor or belt drive non hub setup.

Hope to see you over at Endless Sphere anywayz mate, if start up a thread there stating your situation, your budget, what you need from the bike, the terrain ie is there alot of hills or mainly flat..what range you need from the bike etc. etc the more info you can provide the better! and you you will get some good advice and an assortment of options.

Best of luck mate, hope i have been of some help :-)

    Regards

    KiM

  6. Dear Mr. AussieJester

    DDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

Great job on the trike. I have been following your progress on it and I just wanted to tell you, that thru your inspiration, I have started my own design and build. One difference though is that it will definitely carry more than one carton of beer This isn't a project that I am doing for the **** of it either. I want mainstream transportation without the hassle of the normal vehicle owner ie : NOT being able to fix the **** thing under the shade tree. I like to tinker and one of the most satisfying things to do is, WHEN I find a mistake. ( notice the WHEN, LMSAO ) I can fix it. Thanks again for your posts and your builds you have helped me immensely. Power on My Friend whether it be ICE or ELECTRIC. (((( BTW it has been awhile since I have been on this summer I did REALLY REALLY REALLY follow your build ))))

  7. Thanks Rhett :-) I just finished reading your post then saw this message LoL...I have replied to the post also, i thought i would make mention of a VERY good store that supplies some nice conversions for those that haven't got the funds to buy the e-bike you picked up (bloody nice ride too by the way) Just so people don't get the idea that one needs THOUSANDS to put together a decent e-bike, we must do what we can when we can to promote the environmentally friendly alternatives over the ICE bikes that dominate the boards here :: wink ::

I was out on my trike today first real BIG ride i have made was about 12km round trip only dropped 2 volts the whole ride the trike was flawless throughout even got several cars beep and wave as i scooted along next to the road on the cycle path, one car was full of young blonde haired girlies beepin the horn waving and gigling was funny...anywayz mate, cheers for the message and i hope you thoroughly enjoy your ride (i know you will) you will be wearing "the ev grin" for years to come now hehe :-)

    Regards

    Hello Aussiejester,
nice picture of you on your trike. Thanks for your input in the forum, it ultimately led me to where I got my E+electric beach bike cruiser bike from www.electricmotionsystems.com. I just put a message on the electric forum that you may have noticed--or not--but either way you and your endevors are an inspiration to us all, as long as you like it and are having fun right?--Take care, Rhett
